As technology changes every day, new inventions are
also being created that can benefit educational instructors and students. There
was once a time where a teacher would write on a chalkboard with their back
turned to the students, then came the overhead projectors, dry erase boards,
etc. Many of the tools still used today in advanced school settings have
teachers turning their backs to their students. As technological innovations
are changing, classrooms are also seeing tablets, laptops being used in
classrooms that before only had pencil and paper.
“A Blackboard for the 21st
Century: An inexpensive Light Board Projection System for Classroom Use.” tells
of a new sort of blackboard that makes it possible for a teacher to be facing
their students as they write information on the board. Essentially, the teacher is writing on a
clear glass panel with a bright colored marker that is then projected onto an
overhead projector and displayed on the screens behind the teacher so students
can take notes as the teacher writes. Students have responded to these new
light boards positively. As this would be a nice inclusion to the classrooms,
they do come at a hefty price tag of $10,000 and so make it a luxury for
classrooms.
